Team Ningbo travel to Zandvoort for the final round of the Championship on 15th and 16th October 2011.After starting the year with a Ginetta G50, the swap to the BMW M3 GT4 has proved a worthwhile upgrade, but a challenge. Although the car is still a way off finishing in the podium positions, it was running in 5th place until a rear tire blew out just after this shot was taken.
Chris Stockton has been at the top of the times in Free practice at Spa, and the car has raced with competitive race pace against the front runners, but a competitive time in qualifying still eludes us. In Chris's own words:
"The qualifying has been disappointing. Some of the short comings have been mine, and some have just been simply bad luck. We were quickest in FP2 at Spa only to break the clutch and have to sit out qualifying and hence start at the back of a 56 car grid. At Zolder I was a second up on my last qualifying run, to stumble over a car in the third sector driven by an Austrian friend who ironically I had helped the day before by walking him around the track. This theoretical time would have made us P5 in qualifying instead of P11. We are closer than it looks on paper, and with a bit more time in the car, and a little better luck I am sure we can hold our own with the front runners from the pace we have shown so far"
For those that are interested, the racing is shown on Motors TV on Sky, at various points throughout the week after the meeting.
